The Asian Pear cocktail has many variations, but the one I will introduce to you today is one of the most popular cocktails at Buddha Buddha Martini Bar & Cocktail Lounge in Harrisburg and quickly became one of their signature drinks. I created it to pair with sushi, which was on the menu at the time. The cocktail is a perfect match for seafood, especially sushi and raw fish because of its citrusy, lemony, and gingery taste on the palate and the complement it gives to the ingredients in Asian cuisine generally. It is a perfect cocktail to sip during any season of the year because asian pears are readily available and it is versatile. The ingredients can be found in most wine and spirits stores in PA, but it will cost you a chunk of change to make it so be prepared. It is well worth it though. As usual, it is important to use the specified brands and ingredients listed below.
It involves Absolut Pear vodka, Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur, Limoncello, pulp-free orange juice, homemade simple syrup (or ginger syrup if you like the overwhelming aroma and taste of ginger), dry Prosecco float to provide a bubbly and effervescent taste, and a thinly sliced asian pear for garnish. The result will be a dark yellow/light orange-colored cocktail served up in a chilled cocktail glass.

- 2 oz Absolut Pear vodka
- 1/2 oz Domaine de Canton
- 1/2 oz Limoncello
- splash of orange juice (approx 1/4 oz)
- 1/2 oz simple syrup or ginger syrup
- float Prosecco
- garnish thin slice of asian pear
- Prepare simple syrup 1:1 water to superfine sugar by boiling and cooling. For ginger syrup, make simple syrup and then infuse fresh sliced and peeled ginger root into the syrup by simmering for 15 minutes
- Fill mixing glass or pint glass with ice.
- Add ingredients over ice, except Prosecco and cover with a cocktail shaker.
- Shake well.
- Strain the liquid into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Float Prosecco on top (approx 1/2 oz). Pour slowly around the rim of the glass.
- Garnish with a thinly sliced asian pear (asian pears are round and sweeter than regular green pears).
