A post to end the week as a part of the continuing series of the obscure and mysterious cocktails that involve misunderstood, American spirit - Bourbon. Kentucky Maid
Flavor Profile: Minty, Sweet
- 2 slices of English hothouse cucumber
- 3 spearmint sprigs
- 2 oz Wild Turkey Rare Breed Bourbon
- 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
Garnish: Cuke slice and spearmint sprig
Glass: Julep glass or old-fashioned glass
Prep - In a mixing glass, muddle cuke slice, mint, and simple syrup. Add ice and remaining ingredients. Shake and double strain into an Old Fashioned or julep glass filled with fresh ice or drop contents with ice into glass. (Double-strain using a strainer if you want some cuke and mint in the finished drink.) Garnish with cuke slice and mint sprig.
Apricot Julep
Flavor Profile: Apricot, Spirit-forward, Sweet
- 3 slices of apricots
- 4 spearmint sprigs
- 2 oz Knob Creek Bourbon
- 1/2 oz Apricot liqueur
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
Garnish: Mint sprigs
Glass: Julep or old-fashioned glass
In a mixing glass, muddle spearmint, apricots, and simple syrup. Add ice and remaining ingredients. Shake and strain into an old-fashioned or julep glass with fresh ice (Double strain if you want apricots and mint in finished drink.) Garnish with spearmint sprigs.
Maple Sidecar
Flavor Profile: Sour, Citrus/Spirit-forward, Sweet
- 2 oz Premium Bourbon
- 1/2 oz Triple Sec
- 1/2 oz Maple syrup
- 1/2 oz Fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 oz Simple syrup
- 2-3 dashes orange bitters
Glass: Cocktail
Prep - Add all the ingredients to a shaker or mixing glass and fill with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Bondage
Flavor Profile: Fruity, Complex, Sweet
- 1 oz Maker's Mark Bourbon
- 1 oz Laird's Applejack brandy
- 1/2 oz Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur
- 1/2 oz Marie Brizard pear liqueur
- 1/2 oz Fresh lemon juice
- 2 dashes of orange bitters
Garnish: Lemon twist
Glass: Cocktail glass
Prep - Add all the ingredients to a shaker or mixing glass and fill with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon twist.
