Going Green for St. Patty's Day

Let's face it - it is difficult to construct 'green' cocktails for St. Patty's Day...There aren't a lot of choices out there to make your cocktail look 'green', but what is St. Patty's Day without sipping a luxurious and delicious 'green' cocktail...March is the gateway to spring cocktails so why not incorporate some 'spring' flavors with 'end of the winter' flavors...This a purely a seasonal cocktail-based post so don't expect to read much commentary on the history of St. Patty's Day and all the highly commercialized info that is available on the web.

Forget about green beer, Guinness, and shots of Jameson this St. Patrick's Day. Live on the edge and try good old-fashioned Irish whiskey. Contrary to popular belief, Irish whiskey isn’t good only in shots, picklebacks, or the traditional and tragically named Car Bomb - it also makes a fine cocktail. The typically smooth and incredibly drinkable whiskey is one of the most popular spirits on the planet right now. Many of these cocktails can be served all year long.

With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, skip the shamrocks and clovers, and go green with my friends at Prairie Organic Spirits! You'll be feeling lucky with these tasty cocktails made from single vintage organic corn grown on the Minnesota prairie...I had the pleasure of sampling their organic products when I did a story for them last year...The story will be revealed to the public in due time. See pictures of bottles below -
